This release moves the site’s AI writing to Claude and makes pages that aren’t cached load much faster. It also fixes summaries that were getting cut off or failing to load.
What’s new
- Album, artist, and genre summaries, recommendations, weekly insights, and the artist sentences on the home page now come from Claude Opus 5.5. The Discord bot’s /ask command uses Claude Sonnet 5.5.
- Weekly insights read less like a template, and the album recommendations are tied to what you listened to that week.
- Album and artist pages load faster when they aren’t cached. In testing, the median time to first byte for an uncached album page went from about 740 ms to about 260 ms.
- Apple Music links for albums are more accurate. In a test of 125 albums, 86% got a correct link, up from 70%, and links saved under the old matching were cleared.
- Genre summaries now need a free Last.fm sign-in, like the other AI features. Genre pages stay public.
Fixes
- AI summaries no longer stop mid-sentence, and a cut-off summary is never saved and shown again.
- AI summaries load for albums with titles like “I’m Like a Virgin Losing a Child”, which the site’s firewall used to block.
- Artist sentences that run too long get rewritten.
- Links to albums or artists Spotify doesn’t have show a “not found” page instead of a loading error.
- Listeners stay on the home page list when Last.fm has an error.
- The Discord bot’s /ask replies keep their paragraph breaks.
Under the hood
- The app authenticates with Spotify using the Client Credentials flow.
- Cloudflare Workers tracing and real-time error tracking are on, including spans for AI calls.
- CI runs typecheck and tests on every pull request.
- The /widget/recent endpoint is cached and accepts requests from elezea.com.
- Announcement banners can expire on a set date.
